SUPER MOTH LS

Distelfink's most famous show jumping offspring was Super Moth who formed a formidable partnership with Olympic rider John Cottle. By the end of Super Moth’s career, he had won 75 classes including 44 at Grand Prix level. The prize money he collected amounted to more than $92,000 and he was New Zealand Show Jumper of the Year four years in a row.

He was named Horse of the Year in 1998, National Champion in 1999 and won the New Zealand North Island Championship twice. Super Moth also won the Bell Tea Grand Prix title at the Horse of the Year twice, the Norwood Gold Cup and the Wanganui Class twice in a row, and the Auckland Easter Classic three times in succession.

SUPER MOTH LS was a small horse at 15.3hh and was sold as a dressage horse where he competed successfully to medium level with Amelia White under the name DISTELSTEIN before his jumping career started. John Cottle bought him as part of a consignment to go to Japan but decided after seeing him jump that maybe he should stay in NZ. And the rest is history!

FALCON LS

FALCON LS was bred by Tony Vallance out of his old mare QUIVER LS who dam was by the same sire KIRITEA that was the sire of the mother of NZs most famous horse CHARISMA, double olympic gold medallist. KIRITEA stood at Longspring before it was Longspring! A beautiful big horse, FALCON LS did a bit of eventing before sale to Catriona Williams (nee McLeod) where she took him to the top in showjumping including a trip to Europe where the combination qualified NZ to send showjumpers to the up coming Olympics.

DUTY FREE LS

DUTY FREE LS had a big jump but was somewhat un-orthodox style. Maurice Beatson, NZ's veteran showjump rider got the best of DUTY FREE LS and went on to ????

DENVER LS

Richard Sutherland spotted this horse as a prospect for Catriona Williams as she moved from ponies on to horses. As a jumper, DENVER LS was very successful and jumped up to B Grade and was one win off A Grade when Catriona discovered he was even better at eventing! The duo clocked up many wins - most notable of which was winning the Australian National Championships and placing 2nd in the 3***  Werribee International Event. He was a powerhouse cross country beating full TBs - who said warmbloods can't gallop!

KIWI LOGIC LS
DOW JONES LS
TOWNSHEND LS

Townshend LS (Tiger Moth LS – Dolly LS by Distelfink) is out of a mare bred on a similar cross to the international eventer GV Braveheart (Distelfink – Aureatta by Aureate II) that was placed 7th in the 1998 WEG with Australian rider Olivia Bunn but with a cross to Novel Kingdom being the sire of John Cottle’s Grand Prix showjumper Watch Me. He is a beautiful big strong horse much like his older brother Troy LS. His movement is outstanding as is his jumping.  Townshend LS was a beautiful big horse with a kind and willing nature.

LARINIUM LS

LARINIUM LS is out of the Distelfink mare DABOO by frozen semen from the Dutch Warmblood Sire LARINO. He was broken in as a 4 year old by Longspring and sold to Logan Massie who started him under saddle. With Logan travelling to Ireland for a stint riding there, his sister Georgia took over and had great success with him including at World Cup level in NZ. He then sold on to a promising young rider where he is much loved.

DAMONTEZ LS

DAMONTEZ LS is carrying on his fathers legend as a sire of great offspring. He has produced more than 70 youngsters now making their way through in equestrian sport.  DAMONTEZ LS was sold as a colt at foot with his mother DUCHESS LS and has since grown into an outstanding individual with a record of success in competition as well as a sire.
