2021 Chestnut stallion by WATCHAMACALLIT LS by WATCHMAN (TB)

 

WENDIGO LS is an interesting horse as he is out of a mare by frozen semen hanoverian sire WODAN out of VOGUE LS who is by a VOLTAIRE II colt that stood for a half season only - the Voltaire bloodline that has proven to be an asset in the mare lines. His was broken in by Stefanie Egger in January who commented as follows.

"Brilliant natural canter and jump. Very confident and friendly character! As of right now certainly a horse I'd recommend to keep as a stallion and use for breeding if he develops according to the great potential he is showing at the moment!"

BLOODLINES

WATCHAMACALLIT LS was an outstanding stallion by the stakes winning TB sire WATCHMAN. WATCHAMACALLIT LS is a superb jumping talent - he has an amazing quick action with his front legs keeping them well away from the jump. While extravagant in the air he gives over the jumps, he is still keen and showed no hesitation in the loosejumping. He is bold, careful and really tucks up those knees - all the things you need to produce top horses for eventing and jumping. Remember, he is 3/4 thoroughbred so has that "blood" that the overseas riders have found valuable in their top jumping horses.

WATCHMAN was a top racehorse with 10 wins from 1200 to 2450m including 2 Stakes wins & Aus $147,000. He was a very athletic horse with beautiful paces and excellent muscling. His pedigree is impeccable including AGRICOLA (dam sire of Brilliant Invader the sire of WEG Champion Eventer READY TEDDY and is of interest recently as the sire of the dam of NZ’s showjumper of the moment, DELPHI who placed 6th = in the World Cup finals) and to top NZ thoroughbred broodmare sire ONCIDIUM. A real bonus is that his female (bottom) line traces directly back to MAUREEN who was the dam of FURIOSO xx - acknowledged as the most influential TB sire used in warmblood breeding in Europe. His pedigree includes a similar cross of Precipitation as the great Furioso xx but with the added value of Hyperion in the dam line as well.

The dam of WENDIGO LS is FABERGE LS who is by the frozen semen hanoverian sire WODAN by WINNETOU. WODAN jumped at top level in Europe in the 1980s and sold to the USA. WODAN was bred on the same cross as the phenomenal WITZBOLD who produced most of NZ's top dressage horses in the 1980s & 1990s. Faberge's dam was VOGUE LS who was a grand-daughter of NZ based VOLTAIRE II a valuable bloodline in mares at stud. VOGUE LS was a tall attractive mare that showed great jumping ability but was retained at stud for breeding.
