Over the years, we have kept several Distelfink colts with the idea of having a son to carry on his bloodlines. But it is not easy to find a stallion with size, scope, temperament and the performance bloodlines to really make the grade. There are several we wished we   had never gelded … but that is the business!

We do have an outstanding young Distelfink colt in DAIMLER LS who is a superbly conformed youngster - he has a lovely topline, nice expression and beautiful face. He has wonderful dressage movement and an extraordinary jumping ability. And he has the bloodlines that have proven themselves in competition going back to Witzbold.

DAIMLER LS was injured as a 3 year old and will only be used as a stallion in the years to come. While he is expected to make a   good recovery, he will not be used in competition. Luckily with his bloodlines, superb movement and jumping ability (as evaluated before the injury) he is one of the stud's top young horses anyway.

His sire DISTELFINK was NZs leading sire of showjumpers since results were first computerized and he remained leading showjumping sire for 14 years in a row until his death in March 2004. DISTELFINK produced Horse of the Year Winners, Young Horse of the Year, Show Hunter of the Year and national champions in dressage and eventing. He was 3rd on the WBCSH/FEI sires list for event horses in 1997/98 season. His record of success has been unparalleled.

This is a family that has always produced size going back to his great grandmother PHILOHNIAM who was a 17 hand thoroughbred mare whose full sister was GOING GRAY an A grade  showjumper with the Illston family.  His grandmother was WITZLEBEN by WITZBOLD, reknowned in New Zealand for producing showjumpers MONOPOLY (Canadian   showjumping team) and LUDO - both started in jumping with John Cottle. WITZBOLD also produced top dressage horses including   MOSAIC, PLAYSKOOL and many others.

His dam TAILOR MAID is a 3/4 sister to TRUE STORY LS who sold to the USA as a dressage horse and is doing well.

DAIMLER LS is a full brother to Phillip Steiners promising young jumper DAYLIGHT LS who at 6 years of age had already placed 1st in 10 showjumping classes, was champion 4 year old Show Hunter at the Young Sport Horse Championships.

His full brother Daylight LS (1999 Ch g)  is jumping with Phillip Steiner and is consistently clear and stylish. Daylight LS won the 4   year old showhunter championship at the 2003 Breeders Championships in Taupo. His overall talent was evident when at Gisborne won the 6 Year Old Sport Horse Most Suitable for Dressage and the 6 Year Old Sport Horse Most Suitable for Jumping; and then went on to be Champion Sport Horse Most Suitable for Dressage; and Reserve Champion Sport Horse Most Suitable for Jumping (only beaten by the 5 year old Alaric) out of 4, 5, 6 and 7 year old horses.     Shortly thereafter, Daylight LS won the Show Jumping Development Equitation Championship at the 2006 Horse of the Year Show.

Daimler LS badly injured himself as a three year old but not before we loosejumped him where he showed that "WOW!" factor. He   will never compete himself but is exactly the type of Distelfink colt we have been waiting for as a replacement sire.     If you are looking for a sire that is going to produce dressage ability as well as jumping - consider Daimler LS for your mare.
